Education, Training & Career
Dr. Onur Cavus is originally from Istanbul, Turkey, where he began his career in dentistry. He graduated from the Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2005 and moved directly into postgraduate study in the university's Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, completing it in 2011 with a PhD in oral surgery.
His doctoral research examined efficiency a photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT) protocol against Porphyromonas gingivalis, and safety of the protocol in osteoblast cultures. His full publication record is available on ORCIDandGoogle Scholar.
That same year he opened his own private practice in Istanbul, offering general dentistry and oral surgery with a focus on implant surgery and implant prosthetics. He was invited to speak at professional organizations throughout Turkey and taught hands-on courses in autogenous bone grafting.
In 2021 he completed the dental degree equivalency examinations of the National Dental Examining Board of Canada and moved to Toronto with his family. He was licensed as a general dentist by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario in March 2022 and has since practised at clinics across the Greater Toronto Area. Dr. Cavus has remained highly active in continuing education throughout his time in Canada, completing advanced courses in pain management, periodontal treatment and surgery, implant dentistry, full-arch implant rehabilitation, and moderate oral and parenteral sedation. He holds RCDSO authorization as a moderate conscious IV sedation provider, and practises in both English and Turkish.

Clinical Approach
His clinical goal is to serve the community through comprehensive dentistry: combining contemporary dentistry, oral surgery, periodontology, dental implantology, and digital workflows to establish oral health and maintain it, with confidence and comfort at every stage.
In practice that means single-tooth and full-arch dental implants, bone grafting and sinus augmentation, gum grafting for recession, wisdom tooth removal, and treatment under sedation — planned digitally and delivered in one practice.

He is registered with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation, and the International Team for Implantology.
The Person Behind the Practice
Dr. Cavus was born and raised in Istanbul and moved to Toronto with his family in 2021. He practises in both English and Turkish, and Turkish-speaking patients are welcome to book and be treated in either language.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Cavus is a curious and active person who believes that balance and perspective make a better clinician.
He is an avid cyclist and reader — drawn equally to history and science fiction — and spends as much time as possible with his family. He is an enthusiastic supporter of his son's competitive swimming with the North York Aquatic Club.
